What is EMDR?

EMDR is a structured therapy that encourages the client to focus briefly on a stressful memory while simultaneously experiencing bilateral stimulation (I typically use hand tappers), which is associated with a reduction in the vividness and emotion associated with the memories. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is an extensively researched, effective psychotherapy method proven to help people recover from trauma and PTSD symptoms. Ongoing research supports positive clinical outcomes for anxiety, depression, OCD, chronic pain, addictions, and other distressing life experiences.

What is Sand Tray Therapy?

Sand tray therapy is a hands-on and expressive approach where a person expresses their understanding of themselves, their world, and aspects of their reality through figurines or miniatures. The scenes created in a sand tray reflect the person’s past and present inner thoughts, feelings, and hardships. People who have experienced significant physical and emotional distress from different forms of trauma, abuse, neglect, or danger may benefit from sand tray therapy. Sand tray therapy can help people cope with grief and loss. It can also be useful for those who have challenges with:  aggression, anger management, social interaction, school or work, low self-esteem

It is also commonly used by individuals with:  depression, anxiety

What is Discernment Counseling?

If divorce is a consideration, but not completely sure that’s the best path, Discernment Counseling is for these couples.  It is a chance to slow down, take a breath, and look at options for the marriage.

Discernment Counseling is a way of helping couples where one person is “leaning out” of the relationship—and not sure that regular marriage counseling would help--and the other is “leaning in”—that is, interested in rebuilding the marriage.

Discernment Counseling helps couples decide whether to try to restore the marriage to health, move toward divorce, or take a time out and decide later.  The goal is to gain clarity and confidence about a direction, based on a deeper understanding of the relationship and its possibilities for the future. The goal is not to solve the marital problems but to see if they are solvable.

Many insurance plans are accepted!

NOTE: WE ARE NOT MEDICARE PROVIDERS

Please contact your insurance company to determine if we are a provider for your plan.

To determine if you have mental health coverage, the first thing you should do is check with your insurance carrier. Check your coverage carefully and find the answers to the following questions:

  • What are my mental health benefits?

  • What is the coverage amount per therapy session?

  • How many therapy sessions does my plan cover?

  • How much does my insurance pay for an out-of-network provider?

  • Is approval required from my primary care physician?

If we are not a provider for your insurance plan, we've partnered with Mentaya, a service that streamlines getting reimbursed for your therapy sessions through out-of-network benefits.

    Mentaya is perfect if you:
    • Have out of network benefits
    • Feel overwhelmed by superbills and insurance
    • Have submitted superbills but failed to get any reimbursement
    • Simply want to skip the hassle of paperwork!

    Here's how it works:
    1. Sign up for Mentaya: https://mentaya.com/inviteclient/1kUZSIHsIMoIUfnIaMhs
    2. Our practice will enter your sessions into the platform.
    3. Mentaya submits the claim and handles any insurance follow-up.
    4. You get reimbursed by insurance!

Mentaya charges a 5% fee per claim, which includes handling any paperwork required,
dealing with denials, and calling insurance companies.

It's risk-free: They guarantee claims are successfully submitted, or a full refund of their fees.

A Good Faith Estimate (GFE) will be provided to all clients who will be billed as private pay and/or out-of-network with insurance companies. For more information about the No Surprises Act click here.
